Creating Their Own History

Earlier this year, Stoneworks of Bath, sister company to Rudloe Fireplaces, were commissioned to install a bespoke fire surround in a beautiful period home in Lacock, which dated back to Tudor times. Our masons were rather surprised to discover the remains of four original fireplaces in various states of disuse behind the main opening. Other companies invited to quote had looked at the extent of work required and decided the project was beyond their scope. They requested detailed carving on the mantel to reflect their own hometown origins and research was undertaken to produce exact replicas of the appropriate crests. Six months later, the couple were absolutely delighted both with the finished result and the small piece of history they were able to add to their own exquisite property.
